Passports
First Time Passport Applicants
If you are a U.S. citizen, but have never been issued a U.S. passport, you must apply in person at the U.S. Embassy and submit:
- The DS-11 application form filled out but NOT signed. You will sign in the presence of the Consular officer;
- Proof of U.S. citizenship;
- Proof of identity (this can be any valid, government issued ID, e.g. foreign passport or driver's license, ID card, military ID or U.S. driver's license);
- Two photo (5cm x 5cm, white background);
- The appropriate fee in US Dollar cash (over 16 years of age: $100; under 16 years of age: $85).
Note: If you are applying for the first passport for a child under the age of 18, who was born overseas, you must first report the child's birth. Please see our section on Reporting a Birth Abroad.
