Welcome to the American Citizen Services Section of the Embassy of the United States in Paramaribo. Providing service and assistance to U.S. citizens in Suriname is our top priority.

We strongly encourage all American citizens living in Suriname to enroll with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).  Once you sign-up, we can keep you up to date with important safety and security announcements.  It will also help your friends and family get in touch with you in case of an emergency.

American Citizen Services:  On September 02, 2011, the U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo implemented an online American Citizen Services (ACS) and notarial services appointment system.  The new system allows us to provide more efficient customer service.

Walk-in ACS and notarial services are no longer available, unless there is a bona fide emergency concerning an American Citizen, such as a lost or stolen passport.  Appointments for all non-emergent services must be scheduled online through our website.  First chose the service you require from the menu on the left under ACS and make an appointment.

The online ACS appointment system has improved customer service and shortened wait times at the Embassy. The appointment system provides applicants with an exact time during consular hours to be present for the type of service they need. 

American Citizens or their delegated representative may walk in to pick up Social Security checks or to inquire about voting overseas on any Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 14:00-15:30.

Immigrant Visa Services:  On 1 July 2012, U.S. Embassy Paramaribo’s immigrant visa operation transferred to the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana. Please contact U.S. Embassy Georgetown’s Immigrant Visa section directly:
