Information for Travelers

Warden and Registration Information

All U.S. Citizens visiting or residing in Suriname are encouraged to register with the U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo.  Registration does not require a visit to the Embassy, but can be easily accomplished via the internet, even before a journey begins.  To register please visit the State Department Travel Registration Webpage.

The Warden system is a mechanism consular officers use to inform U.S. citizens in a particular consular district about items of interest, both routine and emergency, that may be of interest to them.  In most instances, email is the preferred method to disseminate these messages.  By registering your trip with the State Department Travel Registration Webpage, you will receive these routine messages.

In accordance with the Privacy Act, information on your welfare or whereabouts may not be released to inquirers without your expressed written authorizations. Registration through the website is not considered proof of citizenship. Remember to leave a detailed itinerary and the numbers or copies of your passport or other citizenship documents with a friend or relative in the United States.
